A  MOSS SHOWER MAT! Not my idea, of course… I f*ing love science highlighted it here.

It sounds like a really cool concept. I’m not sure if I will actually like it in reality. Or if it will really work.  It’s on my list of things to try at some point though when I have the time. I will definitely highlight it on here if I do.

If anyone out there is reading this — curious on your thoughts. Is this gross, or cool, in a natural sort of way?

WOOT WOOT!! We still had a pumpkin at the garden!

A: Squash!

 Hahaha… and of course, so appropriate, because look what else popped up again… one of the ones from last year must have escaped and the seeds crept into the ground.  We harvested two along the ground and will be cooking them for dinner soon.

A: A Granny Smith

Ok, I think these are a little weak, but they are both about apples, and you pick apples in the fall, and it’s fall now. So there.

Happy Fall! Happy October! I know gardening season is just about wrapping up, but I love this weather and it makes me happy.  That is all for today.

A:  His garden sprung a leek.

HAHAHA! Our leeks are just about ready to be pulled. I’m very much looking forward to trying those this year!

New gardeners learn by by trowel and error.

SO TRUE! Holy crap, it’s July tomorrow! Where has the time gone?

An old Italian man lived alone in the country. It was Spring and he wanted to dig his tomato garden, as he had done every year, but it was very hard work for the aging man as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was currently in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If only you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me.

Love, Dad

A few days later he received a letter from his son:

Dear Dad,
Not for nothing, but don’t dig up that garden. That’s where I buried the BODIES.

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived at the old man’s house and dug up the entire area. However, they didn’t find any bodies, so they apologized to the old man and left.

That same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Dad,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That’s the best I could do under the circumstances.

Hahahah! Happy June!

The Sure Thing Zucchinis are ready to go, and growing like crazy. I’m (finally) going to plant them in the garden this weekend. I might even be able to harvest 1 or 2 by then!

So far, I’m pleased with my ability to identify the squash based on the seeds, and it looks like I’m spot on. Unfortunately, the goldens are not doing so well. I have a bunch of those seeds left, so I’m going to start from scratch for one of them, and I’m hoping at least one of them pulls through once I get it in the garden. Might not be terrible if they are little spaced out with timing. Largos and the lone Greyzini are going ok, but way far behind these Sure Things (I guess the name is appropriate!).

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?
